Lakefront House in the Lower Hudson Valley

Thoughtfully designed home
A beautifully designed lakefront home in Putnam Valley, NY with private lake access, lakeside lounging, and two generous decks made for long, unhurried days. Whether you're here to test out that dream of having a summer home, pursue an artist's retreat, or simply decompress - this is the kind of place that earns a permanent spot in your summer memory. After all, Rani means Queen.
About an hour by car from the city, or an hour on the Metro-North (Grand Central to Peekskill) plus a 20min drive to the house, this makes an ideal home base for exploring everything the lower Hudson Valley has to offer - the river towns, the farmers markets, the hiking, the food - while staying close enough to pop back into the city for work or a proper night out. And if you're itching to catch a World Cup match this summer, you're about an hour from New Jersey too.
The house: 2 bedrooms (1 queen | 1 queen and 1 twin XL)· 2 full bathrooms · Sleeps 5
Who this is for: This is an ideal home base for a couple or a small family looking for a quiet, restorative summer, or a few friends looking to test drive co-work/commune life - for people who want somewhere beautiful to slow down, but still have easy access to amenities and city life. One thing to know: it's a small, close-knit lake community and sound carries far across the water. We love that about it - and so do the neighbors. This one's for quiet summers.

The setting: The lake is right there - from the moment you step inside the house. Mornings on the deck (or down to the dock) with coffee, watching the birds put on a show (there's a stunning bald eagle that makes an appearance). Afternoons reading in the hammock chair or floating on the water. Evenings watching the light change over the lake, over the barbecue, with s'mores by one of the fire pits. Snip some herbs from the upper deck herb box, or cut fresh flowers from the wildflower garden bed (if the squirrels haven't gotten there first). The property is just under a quarter of an acre, is well-maintained and the grounds are kept, while the lower lake landscape stays beautifully wild.
When you want to venture out: Peekskill is 20 minutes away, Cold Spring 25, Beacon 35. All three have excellent restaurants, farmers markets, independent bookshops, and galleries. ShopRite and big box stores are about a 10min drive, and Trader Joe's is less than 20min. There's even a fantastic Putnam Valley summer day camp, and a great local library, both 5min away. The hiking is exceptional the Depew Park trails and the Appalachian Trail loop at Canopus Lake are personal favorites. And then you come home to the lake.
